Please remember to support my work (writing on this website)

Please remember to support my work with donations or by buying from Amazon. My work takes often several hours during the day and my social income is low by any standard. The month of may is also going to be costly for me for many reasons. One of them is that I lost my grandfather on 30 April and I’m going to attend his funeral in few days time. I won’t say when the funeral is going to take place, since that was not my grandfather wish (I don’t know the proper English word for this type of funeral).

I am also going to be in money problems in general until I get a job in Denmark, but I’m going to start my job search on Monday. I do hope that it goes quickly so that I can start to have better income than I currently do.

Thanks for the support. 🙂

New website

I am going to start a new website once I have the money to buy the domain. It is not going to be about volcanoes, it is going to be about technology, computers, satellite dishes, antennas and everything that I have interest in.

Plans about creating a company

I also have plans about creating a company. It is few years away until that becomes reality (2 to 4 years). I have however started the basic plans that have to take place until I create the company legally in Denmark (or Germany).

Earthquake activity in Bárðarbunga volcano (Week 17)

After a short period of quiet, it seems that Bárðarbunga volcano has started again making earthquake swarms. The source of this activity is the same as before, inflation of Bárðarbunga volcano and infiltration of magma at shallow depth (that might not erupt).

Largest earthquake in this swarm had the magnitude of 3,4. Other earthquakes in this swarm had smaller magnitude. The number of earthquakes in this swarm was typical, around 20-ish. Currently the activity has stopped, but it is going to start again in few days, as has been the pattern since end of the eruption in February 2015.

Images of few of Iceland volcanoes

When I flew to Denmark on 14th of April the weather was mostly clear skies over Iceland. This allowed me to take pictures of few of the volcanoes in the flight path I was going. Due to constrains in WordPress I can’t show you the images here as I had hoped.

The images can be seen here. I’ll put up a special html page for them later on with text on what volcano you are seeing. Copyright of this images belongs to Jón Frímann Jónsson. They are free for personal use, but commercial use requires an license from me.

Back on-line

I am now back on-line. I am going to start posting updates again in few hours.

This is just a minor auto-update post for comments.

Little connection to the internet 15th – 29th of April, also broke

Since I’m moving back to Denmark I’m going to be without any internet connection in the days between 15th to 29th of April. I might have some limited internet connection during that time, but nothing that I can use to write articles or continue to monitor earthquakes activity.

Any activity in that period can be posted in comments to this article. I’ll try to make a new short article before the comments close automatically after 14 days.

Donations

Please remember to support my work (I’m broke). It is also expensive to move like this and I don’t know at the moment when I’m going to get a job in Denmark. It might take few weeks until I get a job. Thanks for the support. 🙂

Weekly earthquake activity in Bárðarbunga volcano

Yesterday (12-April-2016) at 22:26 UTC an magnitude 3,4 earthquake took place in Bárðarbunga volcano. Few other minor earthquakes also appeared following this earthquake.

As I have mentioned before at some point, this earthquake activity in Bárðarbunga volcano is now a weekly feature, or close to it. I’m expecting more earthquake activity in next few days, or at least until next magnitude 3,0 or larger earthquakes takes place in Bárðarbunga volcano.

Minor earthquake swarm on Tjörnes Fracture Zone

Today (11-April-2016) at 16:49 UTC an earthquake swarm started on Tjörnes Fracture Zone. This was a short earthquake swarm and only lasted for 15 minutes before it stopped.

Largest earthquake in this swarm had the magnitude of 3,2. The second largest earthquake in this swarm had the magnitude of 3,0. Other earthquakes where smaller in magnitude. This earthquake swarm is over for now.

My laptop

My laptop is now showing clear signs that its about end its usefulness and a complete hardware failure is imminent. I don’t expect to use it a lot after Friday. If it fails before that time I won’t be able to post updates for the next two days (until 14-April-2016).

Magnitude 4,2 earthquake in Bárðarbunga volcano

Shortly after midnight of 8-April-2016 a magnitude 4,2 earthquake took place in Bárðarbunga volcano. This earthquake activity was shallow, most depth was around 3 to 5 km. Few earthquakes took place at 7 to 11 km depth, suggesting a magma movement at depth. Nothing suggest that magma reached shallow depth this time around.

The second largest earthquake in this activity had the magnitude of 3,5 at the depth of 4,3 km. Other earthquakes in this swarm where smaller in magnitude at different depths. Magma did not reach the surface in this earthquake swarm, this appears to have been a movement of fault lines do to stress changes at depth due to magma inflow. I’m expecting continued earthquake activity in Bárðarbunga volcano in coming weeks and months.

Donations and move to Denmark

I want to remind people of this article here. I also want to remind people to support my work with donations. Thanks for the support. 🙂

Deep earthquake activity in Askja volcano

Yesterday (06-April-2016) a swarm of deep earthquakes took place in Askja volcano. None of the earthquakes that took place where large in magnitude, with the largest one having a magnitude of 1,6.

Main depth of this earthquake swarm was around 21 km. It did not go up in the crust and nothing suggests that it is going to do so at this point in time. No change in harmonic tremor took place during this earthquake swarm.

Thanks for donations

I want to thank everyone that has donated to support me during April and other months of the year. Once I’m back in Denmark I am going to get me a job so that I have higher income and can live in Denmark for good (and stop being broke all the time). Details about my current status can be found here.

Earthquake activity in Bárðarbunga volcano (Week 13)

Before I start. I want to remind people on this article here that I wrote about my move to Denmark.

Today (3-April-2016) magnitude 3,4 earthquake took place in Bárðarbunga volcano. It was followed by few minor aftershocks. Pre-earthquake with the magnitude of 3,0 also took place before the main event.

This earthquake took place not far from the dyke that created the eruption in Holuhraun. At the moment no other activity appears to be taking place in Bárðarbunga volcano.
