This is just a short overview of activity in the last 24 hours (or so) in Iceland.
Bárðarbunga volcano
As usual Bárðarbunga volcano had an magnitude 3,4 earthquake this week. This time it only appears to have been just a one earthquake. Based on the signature of this earthquake, there is a good chance it was created by magma, rather than tectonic processes.

I expect this earthquake activity to continue for a while now.
Tjörnes Fracture Zone (TFZ)
A small earthquake swarm took place in eastern TFZ this morning. This was not a large earthquake swarm, with the largest earthquake having the magnitude 2,0. Around 40 or so earthquakes took place in this minor swarm.

This earthquake swarm is over and I don’t think it is going to start again. Earthquake swarms like this one are common on TFZ.

Still some rumbling up there, couple of 2.3 ‘s among others.
I strongly suspect that Icelandic volcano’s are involved in events in the End of Days. The timing of these pending eruptions fits perfectly into the End of Days biblical prophecy which we are currently in. Following the war described in Ezekiel 37-38 where Russia, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya and Sudan all invade Israel thru the Golan Heights (Putin and Obama just announced they want Israel to give the Golan Heights back and Syria just announced they will take it back by force soon), there is great judgement cast upon the capitals of those nations.
Ezekiel 38:22 says “And I will bring him to judgment with pestilence and bloodshed; I will rain down on him, on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, flooding rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone”
Referring to the 2nd Coming of Christ, Revelations 6:12 says “And when I saw the Lamb open the sixth seal, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black like sackcloth of goat hair, and the whole moon turned blood red”.
Isaiah 13:10 says “For the stars of heaven and their constellations Will not flash forth their light; The sun will be dark when it rises And the moon will not shed its light”.
Matthew 24:29 says “Immediately after the tribulation of those days: ‘The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.'” These same descriptions appears all through out the New Testament as well referring to the End of Days.
The Ezekiel war will likely take place in the next 2-3 years and then the 2nd Coming of Christ around 7-? years from that. Icelandic volcano’s are unique in their ability to create a global winter which would especially harsh in Europe and North Africa as in Laki 1783.
Please keep this biblical nonsense to your self. This is a fact and science based website and I do not believe in god and end of the world as you claim it’s going to be.
If you want to wait for the end of the world, the waiting period is around 5,3 billion years, then the sun explodes (Earth is going to be burned up by then, about 1,5 billion years earlier).

Unlike Jon, I do believe in God , and I am a Christian, but this site is not a church site so keep your nonsense to those sites that are out there for this type of stuff. If you have nothing Scientific to add to the conversation, then read the posts comment on them! If you cannot make fact based posts about geology go elsewhere!

Even if all the Icelandic volcanoes erupt at the same time, its still not enough, for your end of days version. Even Yellowstone wouldnt be enough.
Augustine had some wise thoughts: Christians should avoid exposing their beliefs to ridicule on inessential matters lest they make things which are essential, such as the resurrection of Christ, seem even more ridiculous.
And remember Cardinal Baronius’s words of wisdom during the “Galileo affair”: The purpose of the Holy Spirit in relation to Scripture is to teach us how to go to heaven, not how the heavens go.
God does not exist for the simple fact that our universe (that makes and sets the rulebook) does not allow it. Sure, there might be beings out there that seems like a god, but are in fact just highly technically advanced. Far as I know, the human race has never come into contact with one of those beings.
The human race (currently population 7,3 billion) is on a good way to making it self extinct species. If the human race avoids that, we are going to go into space and get rid of our religions in the process.
As for Christianity. It was invented on the iron age, supported by the Roman empire (that supported its expansions around the year 313 and onwards). It is worth pointing out that I always find it interesting that Christians and other religions of the same branch always claim hostility, when them self are the most hostile people out there. Given they are often (the more conservative people of {religion}) the most hostile to other ideas about the world and what is going on it in it (nobody knows what the hell is going on the world, if they claim otherwise, they are not telling the truth).

There a chance all be it small that all the electrons in Iceland suddenly arrange themselves on the far side of the moon, that is if we stick to truly empirical data, no one can say that something didn’t or can’t happen, only the likelihood. Even science has its limits as set in the uncertainty principle. Whatever can happen, will.

Oh, just addressing the off subject religion talk. The likelihood of anything and such. Even science has limits if you keep asking what something is made of, or what is possible and what is impossible. (I.e quart tunneling, Plank length, composition of leptons, proton decay, etc.)

I think I’ve seen that one. But even knowing how something behaves doesn’t tell you what it is, or takes away the mystery of it. Explaining things at an absolutly fundamental level is the same as saying “because we say so, don’t ask” or the same as the infinite index fallacy, where there’s an index of the books index in another book and another book to hold the index of that books index of indexes and so on ad infinitum, never explaining what something actually is, just pointing to the next container for the answer. You can explain away God, (the erroneous concept of God anyway) but can you explain what reality really is? Can a knife cut itself? What are things made of and why do the behave the way they do, does the universe have cause and purpose or is it just random. If the latter, why do people get upset at people who force a purpose on a purposeless universe, if anything is upsetting it would be a purposeful universe that people are trying to make meaningless
Well, no. This fundamental laws of the universe are well known. What is not know is the actual number of quarks, leptons and any other things that might be out there.
It is also not known if the universe is made of strings of quantum foam. As for the universe it self, it appears to be infinitive. The video did just explain to you what reality is on a quantum level, it’s all awfully confusing and it still gives me the headache.
The universe doesn’t seems to have any purpose, it just is and always is going be. We are all of the universe, maybe its trying to understanding it self (but this is outside science).

Veritasium did a video about infinite time and an infinite universe. Where he stated that if this were so, no only does another you exist, but also another infinite number of you, that did all the things you did, but also all the things you failed to do or missed out doing or were smart enough not to do, etc. since infinite implies everything possible at every time, everywhere. That made me very confused. Wouldn’t entropy outpace possibility and infinity just imply infinite voids that cancel out? I don’t get how that 13.8 billion years of ever increasing entropy created sentient life out of chaos, given a hairs breadth at any one event in time should of destroyed all possibility of the current reality. Especially if the universe expansion rate had been just a few trillionths of a pace slower, we’d all be scattered atoms

Is this a resurgent sub glacial caldera,first one observed by modern science,hence the puzzle?where will this lead?Only known examples of this are in subduction zones,not rift zones like Iceland and certainly not subglacial.
Well, I appreciate all the thoughts. I know I was a bad boy in raising something so off topic that would cause strife so I apologize. It’s something I struggle with. I gave into temptation 🙂 Poking at the giant so to speak. Sorry Jon. I have a lot of respect for you and I get a good sense of what a decent and straightforward person you are. I don’t take any of this personally. Its just grist for the mill though. I do feel though that Icelandic volcano’s play a very big part in events that are to come but will keep those on other blogs. Its very healthy to have such discussions and weigh these things, just not here 🙂 I will keep in presence here one of respect for Jon and one of awe for ones of nature’s most dramatic events.

I’ve seen some changes on SIL stations around Vatnajökull glacier. I think it has more to due with water and summer melt than anything else. It doesn’t appear to be anything volcanic going on that hasn’t going on for months already.
