Weekly earthquake in Bárðarbunga volcano (12-June-2017)

Today (12-June-2017) a magnitude 3,6 earthquake took place in Bárðarbunga volcano. This earthquake activity is mostly normal for Bárðarbunga volcano, there has been slight increase in earthquake activity in Bárðarbunga volcano during the past few days (minor earthquakes), why that increase is taking place is unclear at the moment. This increased happened at the same time as a sharp increase in earthquake activity took place in Tungnafellsjökull volcano (read the article about that for more information).

Currently the activity in Bárðarbunga volcano is mostly what is now considered ‘normal’ after the 2014 – 2015 eruption. I don’t know if that status is about to change, but there are clues in current activity suggesting that might be about to happen. This increased activity however might slow down again and go back to normal background levels.

  1. Hi Jon – I have been following your posts for several years – thanks for all of your information – very much appreciated. I started using your affiliate link for my Amazon purchases a couple of month ago as I am using Amazon quite a lot this year. Can you give me an idea how this benefits you? For example, I made a US $830 purchase on 2 June. Does that help you? Thanks again, Bruce

    1. Hello,

I generally get 0 to 10% of each purchase made via the banners that I have here (different after product groups). I looked at the reports and I didn’t see your purchase go trough my account. That does happen if you are buying from a third party, they don’t all take part or it is offered or if the cookie that is set goes invalid for some reason. It is difficult to impossible to know the exact reason why this happens. You don’t have to worry about it. 🙂

It is also worth noting that Amazon cookies are only valid (after clicking) for 24 hours. I don’t know why Amazon has it like this. An answer on Quora also suggests that buying something outside of the clicked banner product group isn’t counted and I suspect that might be the case (clicking on dvd and end up buying a something else). The I have front side banners on the site Amazon store that lead to the front page, not special product group.

Overall, all small purchases if done trough the banners slowly add up for me. It helps once I get paid from Amazon, but getting this income is a lesson in patience. Since I set the payment at $800 due to Amazon CPM advertisement.

Amazon CPM advertisement allows for quicker income as it based on traffic not sale. But when it is quiet I get less income due to less traffic on this website. They also adjust payment depending on the time of the year, I get more during December or holiday season in the U.S than other months. So far Europe is only paying when something is bought. I don’t yet have the option of Amazon CPM from Europe at the moment.

For the U.S (it’s mostly the same in Europe) this is the payment thresholds from Amazon on product that are bought trough my banners.
