At the writing of this article it is unclear if this is going to result in an eruption. The chances are good, but this activity might still slow down and stop before any eruption, small or large happens in Katla volcano.

This article is going to be updated if needed or new article is going to be written if the situation changes enough from what it is now.

  1. Interesting in deed. Activity is centered exactly the same region as the recent earlier active periods. However the EQs are shallow, nearly surface level, and no recent deeper quakes indicating magma influx, so kinda looks this was just a grumble.

  2. Based on experience in July 2017 and earlier. Volcano activity in Katla volcano starts like this. It happens slowly over few days with increasing earthquake activity. This has the downside that I don’t know if this is going to result in a volcano activity, there is a good chance that it is going to do so, but it requires few days to be sure.

  3. I have updated how links works on the website. Now it displays the year, month and day when a article has been published. Older links should forward to new link format. There is a chance that might not happen.

I have also delayed closing down PayPal until end of August 2022. It might be delayed again. At this point I am not sure.
