During the night a minor earthquake swarm took place on two parts of the Tjörnes Fracture Zone. The first earthquake swarm was just 19,9 km north-east of Siglufjörður village. Largest earthquake in that swarm had a magnitude of 3,1.
The earthquake activity in Tjörnes Fracture Zone. Largest earthquake is the green star. Copyright of this image belongs to Icelandic Met Office.
The second earthquake swarm was north-east of Grímsey Island and it was a minor swarm. Largest earthquake in that swarm had a magnitude of 2,8. Other earthquakes that happened were smaller in magnitude.

Magmatic activity, wind or jökulhlaup?

It’s been a while since anything worth noting about Katla.
There is really bad weather in this are at the moment. But it doesn’t look like a bad weather at the moment. Only activity in Katla volcano was a minor earthquake swarm few days ago and since then there has been no activity.

It’s a error. There is nothing on my geophones at this time.

Interesting series of deeper quakes in the area:

Any significance to depths going below 20km? At that depth there’s more likely to be a magmatic component…?
There are no volcanoes in this area. But that does not rule out magma movement.
