As it is quiet time in Iceland and I currently don’t have a lot to write about volcano activity and earthquake wise. So while that is I am going to put up two pictures that I got of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano ash from last years eruption.
Eyjafjallajökull volcano ash. I release this picture under Creative Commons Licence (see page for more details).

The pictures where taken by Birgit in Austria. With many thanks to here for this great pictures of the volcano ash from Eyjafjallajökull.
Nice pictures!
SEM is a really nice technique!

It looks rather sharp stuff. I guess it doesn’t do lungs much good!
This is sharp stuff, it does damages to your lung if you breath it in.
Nice pictures, indeed.
I hope someday I will be able to visit Birgit’s museum in Austria, where she has a collection of such volcanic rarities.
Sorry for being OT, Jón.
Is anyone experiencing problems posting at the EB? My posts are being swallowed.
While on Off topic. I am going to open up a story web site soon. Trying to write a story. But publishing a book is so expensive that I am going to use this format first before the book.
I am going to publish there a sci-fi story. Hopefully a interesting one.
Will it be in Icelandic? or English…..
i like sciencefiction….. or the old stuff anyway…. i once wrote a short fiction story for Isacc Asimov and he answered me…
No real accomplishment… i understand he wrote everyone back.
;).

ps…… will there be erupting volcanoes?
I am going to have it in english. 🙂
Excellent!
i’d hate to see what ‘Giggle’ would do to Your story.

Jón, why re-invent the wheel? There are story sites already out there, like Storiesonline.net, where you’ll get your work graded and receive feedback.
I agree with Kultsi, as a few of my friends have done this.
Here’s more self publish sites: http://www.blurb.com/
http://www.createspace.com/
I can support that. I used Blurb for photo books so far only, their quality there is really good. The offer some formats for text as well.
I did look at those pages. I do not like them in regards to the control that they them self take over the published content.
I can only speak for Blurb, since I haven’t tried the other one. You are free how to publish (open or private), if you want to charge additionally to their basic fees and of course you can delete your work at any point. I don’t see the problem here.
Chris, the problem is who owns the material.
Take Facebook as an example, everything you put at FB automatically becoms the property of FB, not of the contributor. The same goes for most of the sites where you can publish yourself.
So I would say Jón is right in checking very carefully the conditions of the agreement ownershipwhise.
Thanks
But i could not have taken those pics if Jón Frímann would not have sent the ash. So all the credit goes to him.
And if any of you should happen to be nearby, please contact me and you will get a free tour.
Where in Austria are you located? I was in Salzburg during Christmas hehe, I had a great time, beautifull place.
Linz and “my” museumis the Ars Electronica Center
Fantastic and outstanding photography! Thanks for sharing.
Sight…. Google is coming with a nonsense when trying to update the address at my Google adsense account.
The Google ads are gone while I am updating my account with them.
There was another quake in the MAR, this morning.
I have no evidence to support this, but every time I see an EQ happening at the North MAR, it is followed by an increase of EQ activity or a wave of swarms.
Have anyone of you noticed that?
I mean, in Iceland, mainly along Rejkjanes or Kolbeinsky ridges.
It appears that Google Adsense has left me high and dry out. So I am moving on to a new advertising company. This time Yahoo after reading this article on Google behaviour.

On my updating my address as part of moving. Google is the only company that I have had problems with.
Google is not in any way a nice company to be dealing with.
I did not know of this AdSense NoSense buisiness, but we have brought them to court before settling out of court on another matter concerning their “Google Apps”. Inshort, concerning fraudulent use of immaterial property not being owned by them. And that is a finer way of saying the words industrial espionage.
This is just ridiculous how they are behaving and there rules make no sense at all. It is for instance impossible to update ones address if that involves moving between countries.
I have just moved on. I don’t like to waste my time.
Since it is friday evening and time for me to leave office I will send you all a song to go by for the weekend. The penultamate blues-song on slide guitar.
It is Jacques Stotzems rendition of Blind Willie Jonssons “Dark was the night, cold was the ground”. It is also humanitys message sent to the stars on the golden record.

(Sorry: Google translation)

The new ads are up. The Yahoo ads where long gone to the dust of history. So I did find something else.
