I wish everyone a happy new year! I hope that everyone is going to have a good year 2012. Thanks for the reading and the support during the year of 2011. Without it I would not have made it as I did.
Thanks for the year 2011. Now lets see what the year 2012 has to offer.
Happy New year to you Jon & to all who read & contribute to this blog.
Happy New Year Jon and to all 🙂
A most wonderful New Year to you and your loved ones as well Jon! I am the quiet bird on the wire who enjoy your blog on Katla very much for quit some time. May the moment of eruption expected. arrive perhaps in 2012?
For you a happy new year and for us a great and safely volcanic year 🙂
Happy new year to Jon and all readers.
Wow! The fireworks in Reykjavik were awesome. It was a lovely way to see in the New Year, warm and cosy by my PC and not hangover this morning.
I have a sneaky feeling Katla will decide not to be outdone by the festive fireworks ! 😀
Also @ Jon…..What is happening here?

Happy New Year, Diana!
I think that the station VSH is near the Karanjukar-powerstation. I don’t know if it is possible to see whether there is more water drained or something similar.
I agree with diana about katla! She sure likes shaking her boody!!! Happy new year to all. 🙂
Happy New Year to all. thanks for all the great and interesting discussions; Let us hope for an interesting volcanic year when no-one gets hurt!
Happy New Year and all the best for 2012.
No EQs published since last night on IMO. A quiet night or did they have a well-deserved night off?
Happy New Year to you Jon, and everyone in on this blog who has volcanologically helped expand my brain that little bit more! I raise a charged glass to you all. may all your dreams and wishes come true x
Maybe it was the drinking yesterday, but during this night I had a dream about Katla having a violent eruption. Happy new Year to everyone!
happy new year all,
just a quick question, what is this on tenerife? or are they just partying hard?

No idea, being honest. But I expect that it is building work; it’s a bit too regular to be anything else.
And the fireworks are off again in Reykjavik! 🙂

Jon, what do you think about it?
Daily Mail at it already this year!!
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2081219/Is-super-volcano-Laacher-See-lake-Germany-blow.html
Of course it’s not a supervolcano, is probably not going to erupt in our lifetimes, but hey why stop an anti-German story in the Mail!
Might as well say the extinct volcanoes in Somerset will suddenly erupt without warning! Hmm, perhaps i’d better move… just in case! 🙂
Oh, wow. I think i will move to iceland, because it’s safer than in germany!
I must admit: I have already traveled to some of the most beautiful volcanic areas in europe, maybe I should sometimes visit my home-country 🙂 .
Don’t think it is anti-German; just poor journalism this time. But pretty pictures.
New blog post is up! 🙂
Jon,
Eyrarbakki seems to be a bit lively today. Is this weather or seismic?
This appears just to be wind and other noise. I am not yet sure why the wind noise is so high on that geophone. But I plan to figure that out soon.
