Earthquake in Bárðarbunga volcano

Few inflation related earthquakes have taken place in Bárðarbunga volcano this evening. This earthquake activity shows that Bárðarbunga volcano continues to inflate at a fast rate since end of the eruption in February 2015.

Largest earthquake had a magnitude of Mw3,3 and few other smaller earthquakes took place. This type of earthquake activity happens every 2 to 3 months now in Bárðarbunga volcano. This type of earthquake activity has started to slow down as inflation continues in Bárðarbunga volcano.
