Impressive live stream! Younger warmer lava is finally spewing out after weeks of colder slowing lava spewing out, maybe we will see flows reaching the ocean soon if it continues at this magnitude?
Depends of of the location of this eruption fissure. I am not sure exactly where it is location in the rift zone in Hawaii. Based on the earthquake activity I am seeing on EMSC website it would not surprise me if new vents opened up elsewhere and started erupting like this one.
The eruption fissures has been moving northeast since the first fissure opened up in Leilani Estates 2-3 weeks ago. This area saw similar eruptions 50 years ago, its easy to see the previous lava layers on Google Earth.

Eruption from Fissure 17, 18, 20 and 22 is still going strong. Its excpected that the lava flow may hit the Red Road (highway 137) and the Pacific tonight or tomorrow Hawaiian time.

At 9pm Hawaiian time 19th of May there are two lavaflows advancing on Highway 137. They are 650m and 750m away from the highway and have a speed of about 100m an hour. Its 200-300m from the highway to the Pacific ocean.

Latest news I did see was that the lava flow had already reached the ocean. I don’t know how accurate that news report is.

The live stream is pointed towards the ocean now and then and you can see a massive amount of laze created from the contact between the lava and the water.

Amazing eruption on Hawaii. Reminds me of Holurhaun eruption, similar start, style, intensity. The lava fountains are huge, once there have been some people in the foreground for comparison. This might intensify and last quite for a long time.
