When this is written there is almost no earthquake activity in Iceland happening. There has been some minor earthquake swarm activity taking place in both south and north Iceland, but those earthquake swarms have been minor and not gone above 3,0 in magnitude. I don’t know how long this quiet is going to last, the longest quiet period I remember lasted for close to four months, then no or little earthquake activity happened in Iceland during that time.
All quiet in Iceland at the moment. Copyright of this image belongs to Icelandic Met Office.
While it’s quiet in Iceland I’m going to add few more short stories to my short stories website. It can be read here.
Both Grimsvotn and Katla have gone quiet and I find it interesting that they both did it at the same time. But then today a few earthquakes one at Grimsvotn at the Caldera and then a few at Katla Caldera. The most intreresting activity for me the last few weeks has been at Askja where there have been an increasing amount of deep quakes in the past few months.
And there goes Bardarbunga again! Just when you thought you might get a break, Jon. 😉
Looks like she was waiting for Jon to comment lol ”

Jón, maybe BB thought you were a little too quiet!
Nice one Kay

Yes I noticed some deep quakes around the 20km mark at Askja . I suppose all the energy which hasn’t been released in Iceland has gone to Italy and in the same location as well. It’s a shame it’s happened twice now.
Askja volcano is preparing for an eruption. I don’t think it’s many more years we have to wait for it.
Jon, I just discovered your Amazon banner that contributes to your efforts. I will use this to contribute. I can’t wait to read about your December trip to Iceland.
Thanks for the support. The December trip is just normal Christmas trip to Iceland.
