I have now opened Volcano blog for registration. The benefits of registering are those that you get rid of the spam tests that I have put in place on this blog.
If there are any problems with the registration process, just leave a comment here and I will do my best to fix the issue that come up.
I am a test user doing a test. (Jón Frímann).
Jón: I’m supposed to receive an e-mail with the password, right?
Renato Rio, Yes you are supposed to get a email with a random generated password. You should get it right away. But if it doesn’t just wait a little longer.
If it doesn’t arrive I will help you finish the registration process.
Thank you Jón. I think I answered in another thread. Still getting used to the possibilities in your new blog. Many thanks.
Great, thanks a lot.
Far as I can tell everything appears to be working as it is suppose to. 🙂
I guess so, yes.
I just keep popping up all over. 🙂
Salut, Dan!
That’s really great and I hope I did not loose my hawaiian sun. 🙂
Diana, It appears that you didn’t. 🙂
Yes, the sun is still there. 🙂
Jón, I just put a link on my WordPress Blog to yours, also my blog is still in the process of developement… 😉
Well, I have been sitting here watching the activity of the mail server, and have yet to see anything come in. I did see a couple of SSH break in attempts, and summarily blocked the IP addresses. But still no mail for my registration thing a ma bob… I’m even 30 minutes late for my “go shoot people on the internet” appointment.
*sigh…
@Diana: Your sun is as beautiful as ever, ravishing, golden, shiny, wie eine Lorelei.
🙂 @ Renato.
@Lurking, Just wait a little longer. I know that my email server sends out the emails without a problem.
So if you don’t get your email right away, just wait. It might take up to 2 to 12 hours to get to your email inbox. I don’t know why that happens, but some times it just does.
Also, check your spam inbox just in case. Sometimes the emails get there if the spam filter is a bit too aggressive.
OK, I got the email and thought I had gone through the registration process (never seen one before,) but when I come here I still see the captcha box…?
I’ll try again – I checked registration and it says I am registered…no, it still wants the captcha – now what?
@birdseye, Did you remember to log on ? You don’t need to register again, I can fix the problem for you if that is the case. I can just re-set your password and email it to you from my many email accounts.
I didn’t log on from the email, was I supposed to? If so, please send another email, thanks Jón.
@birdseye, On the right there is a log-in text. Click that and log-in using the password that the system did send you. The password is still valid so I don’t need to send you a new email just yet.
Try that first before I start messing with your user.
You’re right, Jón, very small print – it’s just as easy for me to use the captcha, actually – and I don’t have to go to another page and then back again…thanks, sorry for the bother. And interesting about the new harmonics, will be looking to see what is happening tomorrow morning (it’s still your yesterday here!)
@Jón Frímann [02:21]
That’s the que flush cycle time. Depends on how the admin has the server set up. Still no mail. As for SPAM filters, we use various RBLs (realtime black list servers) and a bit of heuristics… though I just went through about 85 powerball spam mails and deleted them from sendmail’s que. Found the IP and locally banned that guy. As for captcha… it would be nice if it would stick to words that I have characters on my keyboard for… (not this one, but the one over at tinypic)
How do I register? Post here maybe
(This was where it was supposed to be…)
Nah, it’s over on the right hand side under the Meta Heading.
I still haven’t gotten my confirmation mail, and I’m tired of pondering an odd 27.96 day and 41.94 day peak in the FFT for the summed Icelandic quakes. It’s got to be late if I have resorted to stuff that odd.
@Lurking, Try to request a new password. If that does not work I will email you a new one.
Forgive me Lurking but whenever I see that Word Press avatar of you, I am reminded of this
I was going to complain that I looked too ‘pinko’ for my own liking even when my mostly liberal viewpoints are taken into account. Those Word Press ‘default’ avatars are quite the hoot. They make me laugh and laugh. 😀
(Half registered now … Gentle email servers for quiet Sundays in Iceland. … FWIW Jon’s email confirmation ended up my spam trap. Wasn’t expecting it to get caught up there as data mining giant, Gee whiz male should be very savvy ’bout such things .. Now fully registered.)
Had to recover my confirmation email from Gee Whiz male’s spam trap. Yummy.
Normally I don’t have this problem. Registered now. 😀
(Previous posting regarding this might have gone astray in some interwebs wormhole.)
@Raving, I found your other post in the spam box of the WordPress. I did fix that and have now restored the post to its rightful place here. 🙂
UTC Timestamp of resending of password request: 14:54, October 04, 2010 .
@Lurking, I have emailed you a manually set password for you. You should be able to use that to log on. If not, let me know.
Thanks for the info
