Also, hiked that flow on the Big Island a few years ago, at night, in sandals, with no water, and guttering flashlights, and got lost on the way back. Couldn’t get close to the hot lava, it was a lot further off than it seemed when we started and then when we finally got there it was cordoned off. But got to see it pour out into the ocean, that was cool.
It is hard to know for sure what is going on in El Hierro volcano. But I am sure that it is something if the earthquake activity picks up again.
