{"id":9552,"date":"2021-07-02T21:25:19","date_gmt":"2021-07-02T21:25:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/?p=9552"},"modified":"2021-07-02T21:51:51","modified_gmt":"2021-07-02T21:51:51","slug":"fagradalsfjall-mountain-eruption-refuses-to-stop-2-july-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/?p=9552","title":{"rendered":"Fagradalsfjall mountain eruption refuses to stop (2-July-2021)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a surprise move the activity in Fagradalsfjall mountain (part of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/volcano.si.edu\/volcano.cfm?vn=371030\" target=\"_blank\">Kr\u00fdsuv\u00edk-Tr\u00f6lladyngja<\/a> volcano system) started to increase again around 16:00 UTC and around that time the first lava was seen in the crater after it had emptied it self out during the night as was mentioned in last article. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have been following eruptions for a long time and this is the first time that I see this happen in a crater eruption. Normally when they collapse in this way the eruption is normally over. In this case the magma cleared out the rock from the collapse over few hours (it just goes down the stream with the lava) and the eruption started as the pressure did build up again in the deep magma system. Harmonic tremor has increased again since 16:00 UTC. I don&#8217;t know if it has reached its maximum yet.
