All earthquakes in this earthquake swarm where under Mw2,0 in magnitude.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/201205_1515.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/201205_1515.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"616\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8819\" srcset=\"https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/201205_1515.png 540w, https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/201205_1515-263x300.png 263w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nEarthquake activity in Askja volcano. <em>Copyright of this image belongs to Icelandic Met Office.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This earthquake activity suggests that magma is on the move in Askja volcano. Nothing however suggests that Askja volcano is close to an eruption of any type. Current situation seems to have been created by the fact B\u00e1r\u00f0arbunga volcano 2014 eruption almost started an eruption in Askja volcano by injecting magma into it. That didn&#8217;t happen because the magma stopped before reaching Askja volcano magma chambers. That interaction might have changed the situation inside Askja volcano magma chambers resulting in the earthquake activity that is now appearing in Askja volcano.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Donations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please remember to support my work with donations.
