This earthquake swarm seems to be progressing in the same way as earlier earthquake swarms. Earthquake activity in \u00d6r\u00e6faj\u00f6kull volcano only happens when magma is on the move inside the volcano.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/180824_1445.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/180824_1445.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"596\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7653\" srcset=\"https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/180824_1445.png 540w, https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/180824_1445-272x300.png 272w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nEarthquake activity in \u00d6r\u00e6faj\u00f6kull volcano. <em>Copyright of this image belongs to Icelandic Met Office.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Largest earthquake in this swarm had a magnitude of 2,2 and the second largest earthquake had a magnitude of 1,9. Other earthquake activity has been as before and is mostly made of earthquake with magnitude 0,0 and up to magnitude 1,0.
