Esjufj\u00f6ll volcano is not a volcano that gets a lot of attention because most of the time its completely quiet, with last notable activity taking place in the year 2013. Earthquake activity started to appear in Esjufj\u00f6ll volcano in the year 2002 (IMO map <a href=\"http:\/\/hraun.vedur.is\/ja\/viku\/2002\/vika_42\/index.html#mark\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/hraun.vedur.is\/ja\/viku\/2002\/vika_43\/index.html#mark\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/161105_2135.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/161105_2135.png\" alt=\"161105_2135\" width=\"540\" height=\"596\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6496\" srcset=\"https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/161105_2135.png 540w, https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/161105_2135-272x300.png 272w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nEarthquake activity in Esjufj\u00f6ll volcano (north east of \u00d6r\u00e6faj\u00f6kull and south of Gr\u00edmsv\u00f6tn volcanoes). <em>Copyright of this image belongs to Icelandic Met Office.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>At the moment not many earthquakes have taken place in Esjufj\u00f6ll volcano. That might maybe change, but I don&#8217;t expect it to. Maximum number of earthquakes recorded so far (in 2002 at least) is around 40 &#8211; 80 (I&#8217;m not sure to the exact number). The reason why Esjufj\u00f6ll volcano is having earthquake activity is due to fresh magma pushing up the volcano from deep inside it. At the moment there isn&#8217;t anything suggesting that an eruption is about to happen and if an eruption does happen I would not expect it to be big. The chance of an eruption taking place in Eskjufj\u00f6ll volcano is around ~2% at the moment in my view.<\/p>\n<p>The only eruption that might have happened took place in the year 1927, at the moment it has not been confirmed. It may have only been active for around 4 days at maximum and took place on September 5. The information is not that good due to how remote this volcano is (map can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/hraun.vedur.is\/ja\/vatnajokulsvoktun\/Vatnajokull.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, Esjufj\u00f6ll are located south of Gr\u00edmsv\u00f6tn, north-east of \u00d6r\u00e6faj\u00f6kull volcano).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Donations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please remember to support my work.
