{"id":4728,"date":"2014-08-19T16:38:29","date_gmt":"2014-08-19T14:38:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/?p=4728"},"modified":"2014-08-19T16:39:43","modified_gmt":"2014-08-19T14:39:43","slug":"update-on-bardarbunga-volcano-at-1437-utc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/?p=4728","title":{"rendered":"Update on B\u00e1r\u00f0arbunga volcano at 14:37 UTC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is a short update on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.volcano.si.edu\/volcano.cfm?vn=373030\" target=\"_blank\">B\u00e1r\u00f0arbunga<\/a> volcano activity.<\/p>\n<p>Little has changed since yesterday (18-August-2014) in B\u00e1r\u00f0arbunga volcano. Earthquake activity has been moving east and north-east since yesterday but continues at same rate as before. It is not clear why that is, but is getting close to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.volcano.si.edu\/volcano.cfm?vn=373050\" target=\"_blank\">Kverkfj\u00f6ll<\/a> volcano, but at the moment the earthquake swarm is inside a fissure swarm that belongs to B\u00e1r\u00f0arbunga volcano. I do not know what happens if magma from B\u00e1r\u00f0arbunga volcano gets into contact with magma in Kverkfj\u00f6ll volcano.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/140819_1345.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/140819_1345.jpeg\" alt=\"140819_1345\" width=\"540\" height=\"596\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4729\" srcset=\"https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/140819_1345.jpeg 540w, https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/140819_1345-271x300.jpeg 271w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nEarthquake activity in B\u00e1r\u00f0arbunga volcano during the past 48 hours. This means that no earthquake so far has reached the magnitude above 3,0.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/dyn.svd_.19.08.2014.at_.13.52.utc_.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/dyn.svd_.19.08.2014.at_.13.52.utc_.gif\" alt=\"dyn.svd.19.08.2014.at.13.52.utc\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4731\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nHarmonic tremor remains high in B\u00e1r\u00f0arbunga volcano, even if there is no eruption taking place at the moment. <em>Copyright of image belongs to Icelandic Met Office.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The harmonic tremor clearly shows the pulse activity that is taking place in B\u00e1r\u00f0arbunga volcano, when the earthquake activity drops, so does the tremor. When the harmonic tremor increases, earthquake activity increases soon after it. This data is just for few days. I am expecting more inflation to take place in the next few days. When this is going to results in an eruption I do not know. For people looking for web cameras of B\u00e1r\u00f0arbunga volcano, a new web camera has now been set-up by M\u00edla communication company in Iceland. It sends out live from B\u00e1r\u00f0arbunga volcano (as close they can get to it).
