{"id":3087,"date":"2012-10-16T22:30:01","date_gmt":"2012-10-16T20:30:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/?p=3087"},"modified":"2012-10-16T22:30:01","modified_gmt":"2012-10-16T20:30:01","slug":"weak-harmonic-tremor-pulse-from-hamarinn-volcano","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/?p=3087","title":{"rendered":"Weak harmonic tremor pulse from Hamarinn volcano"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since around 19:00 UTC (16.10.2012) a harmonic tremor pulse has been taking place in Hamarinn volcano (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.volcano.si.edu\/world\/volcano.cfm?vnum=1703-03=\" target=\"_blank\">B\u00e1r\u00f0arbunga volcano<\/a>). There is in my view no eruption taking place at the moment. This is most likely a dike intrusion of magma somewhere in the area of Hamarinn volcano. That might however trigger an eruption. But we just need to wait and see on that for the time being. This activity is interesting, as there was a small eruption in this area in July 2011.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/jok.16.10.2012.20.20.utc_.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/jok.16.10.2012.20.20.utc_.gif\" alt=\"\" title=\"jok.16.10.2012.20.20.utc\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3088\" srcset=\"https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/jok.16.10.2012.20.20.utc_.gif 640w, https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/jok.16.10.2012.20.20.utc_-300x225.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe harmonic tremor pulse is strongest on this SIL station. But it is weak regardless. But is weak and can hardly be detected on it. <em>Copyright of this image belongs to Icelandic Meteorological Office.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The harmonic tremor pulse can be seen at the end of the above SIL station traces. The harmonic tremor pulse is higher then normal background noise (wind, ocean waves, human traffic, etc) on the SIL station. I do not expect this to be noise. The signal is too strong for that.
