This is normal tectonic activity for this area. But this area of Iceland has the most earthquake activity most of the year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/120723_2315.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/120723_2315.jpeg\" alt=\"\" title=\"120723_2315\" width=\"540\" height=\"416\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2762\" srcset=\"https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/120723_2315.jpeg 540w, https:\/\/icelandgeology.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/120723_2315-300x231.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nEarthquake activity in TFZ. <em>Copyright of this picture belongs to Iceland Meteorological Office.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00deeistareykjabunga volcano<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It was noticed by a reader of this blog that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.volcano.si.edu\/world\/volcano.cfm?vnum=1703-09=\" target=\"_blank\">\u00deeistareykjabunga volcano<\/a> was having few earthquakes. \u00deeistareykjabunga volcano last erupted in the year 900 BC (+- 100 years). This earthquake swarm was small. Mostly earthquakes with the magnitude of ML0.5 to ML1.0. The focal depth of this earthquake swarm was around 5 km. So this in all, is most likely an tectonic earthquake swarm. Rather then volcanic. \u00deeistareykjabunga volcano is an active volcano.
