December 2023 an earthquake swarm took place in Tj\u00f6rnes Fracture Zone just south east of Gr\u00edmsey island. Largest earthquake in this swarm had a magnitude of Mw3,4 at 08:06 UTC and was felt in H\u00fasav\u00edk, Akureyri and Gr\u00edmsey according to the news.
